Road Prong Great Smoky Mountains
The Road Prong in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is named for its proximity to the first road over the main crest of the Great Smoky Mountains. The Road was steep, rocky, and difficult to navigate. Today, the Road Prong Trail traces the route of this historic trace.
The Road Prong Trail, though short, is strenuous and requires fording many creek crossings. Not recommended for hikers with limited experience.
